Why Flash Storage Is Replacing Traditional Disk

According to a recent report from IDC, the total worldwide revenue for enterprise storage systems decreased 0.5 percent year over year in the first quarter of 2017. However, revenue for all-flash arrays increased 75.7 percent year over year, generating almost $1.4 billion in revenue. Liz Conner, IDC research manager for Storage Systems, noted that “spending on traditional external arrays continues to slowly shrink while spending on all-flash deployments once again posted strong growth and helped to drive the overall market.”
